Surgical Blades Size 23 are carbon or stainless steel sterile blades designed for making long incisions. They are “leaf-shaped” with a curved cutting edge, making them the standard blade for general surgery and autopsy procedures where long, clean cuts through the skin and muscle are required. These blades are supplied without handles and are compatible with Size 4 scalpel handles. Each blade is individually foil-wrapped to maintain sterility and ensure the cutting edge remains razor-sharp until use. Sold in a box of 100, they are a staple in operating theatres.

Description

The Size 23 Surgical Blade is one of the most commonly used blades in general and orthopedic surgery. Its specific ‘leaf’ shape allows the surgeon to utilize the belly of the blade for long, sweeping incisions, offering excellent control and depth management.

Handling and Safety:
These blades are extremely sharp. Care must be taken when attaching and removing the blade from the handle; the use of forceps or a blade remover is strongly recommended to prevent accidental cuts. Do not use if the individual foil wrapper is damaged. Single-use only—reuse results in a dull blade that causes excessive tissue trauma and increases infection risk.
