Vicryl suture 2 RCN Dozen

Vicryl Suture Size 2 RCN is a very thick, absorbable suture equipped with a Reverse Cutting Needle (RCN). Size 2 is one of the heaviest gauges available. The Reverse Cutting needle has a triangular cross-section with the cutting edge on the outside curvature, making it ideal for tough, difficult-to-penetrate tissues like skin or thick fascia. Although Vicryl is absorbable, using such a large size with a cutting needle suggests use in areas of high tension where the suture will eventually dissolve. Box of 12.

Description

Vicryl Size 2 with a Reverse Cutting Needle (RCN) is designed for tough tissue approximation.

Specifications:
– Size: USP Size 2 (Very thick/strong).
– Needle: Reverse Cutting. The cutting edge is on the convex (outer) side of the needle curve. This structural design prevents the suture from tearing through the tissue towards the wound edge (cutout) under tension.
– Material: Polyglactin 910 (Braided, Coated).

Usage:
– Closure of thick fascia or connective tissue.
– Tension sutures.
– Sometimes used in large animal veterinary surgery or very specific human orthopedic procedures requiring absorbable heavy-duty closure.

Note: Using a cutting needle on delicate internal soft tissue is generally avoided; this combo is for tough fibrous tissue.
