Suture silk no 1 RB 75cm, 1/2 circle 45 mm

Suture Silk Size 1 RB is a heavy, non-absorbable braided suture. Silk has excellent handling and knotting properties. Size 1 is thick and strong. The 45mm Round Body needle is designed for internal ligation of large vessels, pedicles (like the renal or splenic pedicle), or securing heavy drains. Silk causes a tissue reaction that helps lock the suture in place over time.

Characteristics:
– Material: Natural Silk (wax coated).
– Size: USP 1 (Heavy).
– Needle: 45mm Round Body. Non-cutting.

Applications:
– Ligation: Tying off major blood vessels during open surgery (e.g., Nephrectomy, Splenectomy).
– Fixation: Securing surgical drains to the skin (RB needle minimizes risk of cutting the drain tube).
– General Surgery: Approximation of muscle or fascia (though synthetic absorbables are replacing it, some surgeons prefer silk for its knot security).

Note: Silk is non-absorbable but loses strength over 1-2 years. It should not be used in the biliary or urinary tract as it can form stones.
