Suture nylon no.1 RC

Suture Nylon Size 1 RC is a thick, non-absorbable monofilament suture. Size 1 is a heavy gauge used for high-tension closure. The Reverse Cutting (RC) needle is designed to penetrate tough skin and fascia. Nylon (Polyamide) is smooth, strong, and causes minimal tissue reaction. It is typically used for securing drains, closing orthopedic wounds, or skin closure in areas under significant stress.

Description

Nylon (Ethilon/Monosof) Size 1 with Reverse Cutting Needle is a heavy-duty skin and retention suture.

Features:
– Material: Monofilament Polyamide (Nylon). Smooth surface prevents bacterial adherence and allows for easy pull-out removal.
– Size: USP 1 (Metric 4). Very high tensile strength.
– Needle: Reverse Cutting (usually 40mm or 45mm for this size).

Applications:
– Retention Sutures: Supporting the abdominal wall in potential burst abdomen cases.
– Drain Fixation: Securing heavy chest tubes.
– Orthopedics: Skin closure over the knee or hip where tension is high.
– Trauma: Closing large lacerations on the back or thigh.

Must be removed once healing is sufficient. The memory of the wire means secure knotting (3-4 throws) is required.
